Bacillus thuringiensis treatment modulate the HSP70 expression in larva and adult brain of Rhynchophorus ferrugineus

To study the pathogen-host relationship, we used the model of the entomopathogenic bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) and Rhynchophorus ferrugineus, a quarantine pest that attacks palm trees. In particular, we focused on the Bt stress-induced infections. We studied the effect of Bt on larval and adult growth, and on the expression of the heat shock proteins (HSPs), rapidly synthesized in the cell after exposure to stress including pathogens. Bt has negative effects on larval and adult growth, on total hemocytes counts and on the hemocyte type. In an effort to prevent the formation of pathogenic biofilms on hydroxyapatite (HA)-based clinical devices and surfaces, we present a study evaluating the antimicrobial efficacy of Spherical biogenic Se-Nanostructures Embedded in Organic material (Bio Se-NEMO-S) produced by Bacillus mycoides SelTE01 in comparison with two different chemical selenium nanoparticle (SeNP) classes. An overview of the role of T cells in controlling tuberculosis infection in a pediatric population

The most significant immunological studies of tuberculosis (TB) infection have involved adult patients. Few studies about the immune repertoire have been conducted in children. The purpose of this paper is to focus on cellular immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis by reviewing our studies conducted on children with different forms of TB infection between 1998 and 2006. Although the gold standard of TB diagnosis remains isolation of TB bacillus that also allows estimation of pattern of resistance of M. tuberculosis, the study of immune response can be useful for the early diagnosis and therapeutic follow-up of pediatric TB.

The bacterial spore is a multilayer microbial form which is extremely resistant to environmental perturbations. This resistance is especially due to its unique structure which is particularly compact and weakly permeable. This work aims to identify and characterize the spore structures involved in these properties. Combining Hexanoic Acid Plant Priming with Bacillus thuringiensis Insecticidal Activity against Colorado Potato Beetle

Interaction between insect herbivores and host plants can be modulated by endogenous and exogenous compounds present in the source of food and might be successfully exploited in Colorado potato beetle (CPB) pest management. Feeding tests with CPB larvae reared on three solanaceous plants (potato, eggplant and tomato) resulted in variable larval growth rates and differential susceptibility to Bacillus thuringiensis Cry3Aa toxin as a function of the host plant.
